Our research has focused on constructing a database of atomic bomb survivors and epidemiological studies of mortality factors and other factors in atomic bomb survivors based on this database.
In addition, we are now conducting molecular genetics and molecular epidemiology studies focusing on neurological diseases.
Our specific research interests include the following.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n
  1. Identification of causative diseases and genetic diagnosis of hereditary spinocerebellar degeneration.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Identification of causative genes for Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Using advanced technologies and equipment such as microarray SNP analysis and next-generation sequencers, we are working to identify the etiological molecules of these diseases.
    As a result of our research, we have identified novel causative genes for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and spinocerebellar degeneration (SCD). Based on this, we are conducting analyses to clarify the molecular pathogenesis of neurodegenerative diseases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
